We made it to Bali! Got in late last night. We booked a decent place in the Legian area for three nights while we get things sorted out. We sort of splurged on this and wound up with a room with a flush toilet and hot water, and beautiful grounds and a pool. We don't expect this to be the norm so we'll be sure to enjoy it. People are enormously friendly and like to shake hands and pat you on the shoulder. Breakfast was small but delicious--excellent coffee, and Julie had a little pancake while I had a fried pouch filled with bananas. Very tasty.
We're looking forward to getting out of this part of Bali soon to find more pleasant areas, but we have to sort out our live-aboard dive trip first. For this we expect to fly to the island of Flores (east of Bali) on Sunday to catch the boat. It will only be a 4 day/3 night trip, so we should have plenty of time to slowly make our way back to Bali by ferry and check out some other small islands on the way. All in all we have just about three weeks here in Indonesia before we leave for Singapore and Malaysia, where we will meet up with my Dad and his partner Charlotte.
Just a note - the computers here are a bit slow, as expected....so we will still be uploading pics but probably not adjusting them or adding comments, unless we get a super fast connection. The pics from Australia are up now and a small # from Bali as well (in Julie's album).
