Everest and the Annapurnas

We are currently in the town of Pokhara - which is west of Kathmandu, Nepal. What a country! We spent one full day in Kathmandu and took off today for Pokhara. Our time in Nepal is quite short, we only have 14 days here. So we have decided to really try and get the most out of this time by trekking and white water rafting, and spending less time in the cities. We leave tomorrow for a 5-day trek up to Poon Hill and around to a few other small villages. A short trek is better than no trek right? We should get good views of the Annapurnas most of the days we hike.....as long as those puffy clouds lift up. And right after that we signed up for a 3-day white water rafting trip! Yahoo!

But in the meantime - here are a few shots of the Himalayas that we took from our two flights (Jay coming from the west and Julie from the east) to Kathmandu. I think I saw Everest! WOW. And Jay totally saw the entire Annapurna range. Pretty incredible sights.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but this is EVEREST right? Wow.

Kathmandu has been fun despite having been devoured by bedbugs at our guesthouse. The city is colorful, lively, insanely busy, dirty, loud, and goes to bed by 9pm. Then only cows take up space on the streets munching on trash. I like it there.
